Generally
accepted as the only coral island on the
Great Barrier Reef with a navigable lagoon. The Island is a true coral
cay and explorers will discover brightly colored corals, sea-urchins,
clams
and starfish which are exposed at high tide. |

Turtles come
ashore in summer, to lay
their eggs
and thousands of seabirds nest on the uninhabited Island.
Snorkelers will discover a wonderland
of undersea
life in close proximity to the island including many varieties of reef
fish.
Lady
Musgrave is in the Bunker
Group of islands
with surrounding reef, it supports a shady pisonia forest, nesting
turtles
and seabirds. Sheltered lagoon anchorage.
The Island is a national park
and there are no
facilities ashore
other than toilets. Camping however, is permitted for up to 50
people
at a time. Campers must take their own fresh
water,
food, a fuel stove and booking is necessary.
What to do
Bush camping, bush walking,
nature study,
reef walking, diving, snorkeling and just relaxing.
Boat access is due east from
the Town of 1770.
